Andre Drummond saw his first preseason action against a good team Thursday, and the Miami Heat delivered a message to the Detroit Pistons and their prized rookie that things are not quite so easy against the NBA's elite. Miami prevailed 105-78.

Drummond, who has had three strong performances for the Pistons in preseason action, still scored nine points with eight rebounds, but struggled with foul trouble against the fast and physical Heat. Drummond picked up five fouls in nine minutes in the first half. He was able to stay on the court nine minutes in the second half without picking up his sixth foul.

The Pistons shot just 35 percent in the game while the Heat shot 48 percent. Dwyane Wade scored 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting in 22 minutes and LeBron James scored 13 points with four rebounds, eight assists and four steals in 27 minutes. Chris Bosh had 17 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes. Miami led by as many as 35 in the game.

Greg Monroe led the Pistons with 15 points and Brandon Knight had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. The Pistons are now 2-3 in preseason play.

The Detroit Pistons travel to South Beach to take on the Miami Heat on Thursday night.

LeBron James and Chris Bosh are set to start for the Miami Heat when they take on Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons in preseason action on Thursday night, so there should be plenty to watch for in this game. Heat point guard Mario Chalmers (quadriceps) will sit out and Norris Cole will get the start at point guard. Dwyane Wade is probable for the matchup.

When James and Bosh hit the bench, all eyes will immediately turn to Drummond. The No. 9 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft has been electric for the Pistons so far in the preseason, and the highlight plays have continued to sweep in at a steady pace.

The Pistons are fresh off a breezy 112-86 win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night, while the Heat are back from China after their 99-89 loss to the Clippers in Shanghai on Sunday.

Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on FOX Sports Detroit.
