ALCS Game 1 score: Tigers 0, Yankees 0 after 3 innings

Despite loading the bases twice to open the game, the Yankees were unable to capitalize on Doug Fister's sluggish start as Game 1 of the ALCS against the Tigers remains scoreless after three innings.

Fister had issues with his control in the first inning as he threw 24 pitches, only 11 of them for strikes, while walking Derek Jeter, Raul Ibanez and Mark Teixeira to load the bases before Alex Rodriguez grounded out to second to end the inning.

Fister loaded the bases again in the second inning, this time by allowing three consecutive singles to Russell Martin, Jeter and Ichiro Suzuki but was able to get Robinson Cano to ground out with two outs to once again end the threat.

Fister settled down in the third inning, allowing just one hit before getting Rodriguez to ground out for an inning-ending double-play. Fister has thrown 54 pitches, 30 for strikes, through three innings.

Andy Pettitte was dominant to open the game, throwing 36 pitches, 26 for strikes and striking out three of the 10 batters he faced through three innings. Pettitte allowed two hits through the first three innings - a two-out single to Miguel Cabrera in the first inning and a Gerald Laird single in the third.
