The Detroit Tigers look to take a 3-0 lead in the ALCS when they host the New York Yankees in Detroit on Tuesday. The Tigers are putting ace Justin Verlander on the mound and the Yankees are answering with right-hander Phil Hughes.
Since the Yankees are going with Hughes, and not starting C.C. Sabathia on short rest, the Tigers will trot out the same lineup they used in Game 2 on Sunday against right-hander Hiroki Kuroda, which Detroit won 3-0. The Tigers have used the same lineup in every game this postseason against a right-handed pitcher. When facing a left-handed pitcher Detroit has started Gerald Laird at catcher, Avisail Garcia at right field, and moved Andy Dirks to left field.
