2012 World Series odds: Detroit Tigers favored over San Francisco Giants

The Detroit Tigers are favored to win the World Series against the San Francisco Giants according to online sportsbook Bovada. The Tigers are -180 favorites to win the series compared to +160 odds for the Giants. This means to win $100 betting on the Tigers you would need to place a bet of $180; meanwhile, if you bet $100 on the Giants and they won the World Series, your bet would pay $160.

Bovada also offers a series of lines on exact results, determining that the Tigers winning in five games is the most likely outcome with odds of 7/2. The Tigers winning in six games has odds of 4/1, while Detroit winning in seven has odds of 9/2. The Giants winning in seven games also has 9/2 odds.

The Tigers finished the regular season 88-74, winning the AL Central. In the playoffs they defeated the Oakland Athletics in five games and swept the New York Yankees in four games. The Giants finished the regular season 94-68, winning the NL West. They defeated the Cincinnati Reds in five games and the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games en route to the World Series. Game 1 is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday in San Francisco.
