Through two games, the 2012 World Series between the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants is on pace to draw the lowest television ratings ever, according to a report by Michael Hiestand in the Detroit Free Press on Friday.
Game 1 garnered the lowest ratings of all-time, and, according to the article, Game 2 was even worse. With its 8.8 overnight rating, Game 2's numbers were also the worst ever, down 12 percent from last year's Game 2 in the World Series between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals.
Perhaps one silver lining for Major League Baseball on Thursday night is that Game 2 of the Fall Classic outdrew the NFL's Thursday Night Football contest between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings on NFL Network, which only recorded a 3.9 overnight rating.
Game 3 of the World Series, which the Tigers lead 2-0, is set for Saturday night in Detroit. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
