Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Friday that he doesn't plan on releasing his playoff roster for the American League Division series against the Oakland Athletics until Saturday, according to a report by George Sipple of The Detroit Free Press.
The actual deadline for the announcement is 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. It does appear, according to the report, however, that pitcher Luis Marte may not be on the team's postseason roster after he cleared his locker on Friday.
"They sent me down to Lakeland to work out if something happens here," Marte said in the report. "They're going to call me back if they need me. I don't feel bad because I wasn't here all year. They know what I do."
In 13 games for Detroit this season, Marte recorded an ERA of 2.82 and tallied 19 strikeouts in 22⅓ innings.
The Tigers host the Athletics in Game 1 of the ALDS at 6:07 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
