Tigers vs. Athletics, 2012 ALDS Game 3: Time, TV schedule, starting pitchers and more

The Detroit Tigers will attempt to clinch the ALDS in Game 3 on Tuesday.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

After winning the first two games in Detroit, the Tigers will head to Oakland for Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Athletics.

The Tigers have a 2-0 series lead and could clinch the best-of-five game series on Tuesday. After turning to Justin Verlander and Doug Fister in the first two games of the series, Anibal Sanchez will start Game 3 for the Tigers. Sanchez posted a 3.74 ERA in 12 starts for the Tigers, but was strong down the stretch with a 2.43 ERA in six starts in September. Sanchez started one game against the Athletics and struggled, allowing six runs over 5-2/3-innings.

The Athletics will attempt to avoid elimination with Brett Anderson making the start. Anderson made just six starts for the Athletics this season as he recovered from an elbow injury. He will also be making his first start since suffering an oblique injury late in the season. Anderson lasted just 2-1/3-innings in his one start against Detroit. He allowed three runs and walked three.
