Torii Hunter has been contacted by the Tigers, according to a report

The Tigers are interested in free agent outfielder Torii Hunter, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

The Detroit Tigers are reportedly one of 10 teams to contact Los Angeles Angels free agent outfielder Torii Hunter. Five of the teams, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, are the Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners.

The Tigers are looking to upgrade their outfield and have been rumored as a possible suitor for Rangers free agent Josh Hamilton. They have also reportedly been in trade talks with the Arizona Diamondbacks about Justin Upton.

Detroit has said the team will not bring back free agent outfielder/DH Delmon Young. The team used Andy Dirks and a platoon of rookies Quintin Berry and Avisail Garcia as their primary corner outfielders down the stretch in the regular season and in the postseason.

Hunter, a former Minnesota Twins outfielder, hit .313 with 16 home runs, 92 RBIs and a .817 OPS last season. Rosenthal reports that he prefers to sign with a team that would allow him to be an everyday player.
