Tigers spring training schedule for 2013 announced

The Tigers' spring training schedule begins on Feb. 22 and closes out on March 30.

The Detroit Tigers released their 2013 spring training schedule on Wednesday. They'll open earlier play earlier than normal, traveling to the Disney complex Feb. 22 to face the Atlanta Braves. They'll close their Grapefruit League play on March 30 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Among the teams that Detroit will host at Joker Marchant Stadium are the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. A team of Tigers minor-league players is also scheduled to face Western Michigan University's baseball team on March 5.

The Tigers have just two off days once spring training play begins, March 5 and March 20. The regular season opens on April 1 with a road series against the Minnesota Twins.

Tickets for individual games go on sale at 10 a.m. on Jan. 12. The club is also offering full season-ticket and partial plan packages, which are on sale now.
