The power hitters of the Detroit Tigers' lineup were given awards for their stellar seasons on Thursday.
Third baseman Miguel Cabrera and first baseman Prince Fielder won Silver Slugger Awards. It is Cabrera's fourth Silver Slugger award, while Fielder won his third.
Cabrera has won the award four times at three positions in two leagues. Cabrera won the award as an outfielder in 2005, a third baseman in 2006 and a first baseman in 2010.
Cabrera, 29, was the first Triple Crown winner since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. Cabrera batted .330 with 44 home runs and 139 runs batted in. Cabrera is in line to potentially win his first Most Valuable Player award.
In his first season with the Tigers, Fielder won his third Silver Slugger award at first base.
The $214 million man batted a career-high .313 with 30 home runs this season. He played in all 162 games, knocking in 108 runs and racking up a .940 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS).
