Miguel Cabrera wins pair of GIBBY Awards

In addition to being named the Baseball Writer's Association of America's American League MVP, Miguel Cabrera was awarded the MLB MVP GIBBY award on Tuesday.

Miguel Cabrera's historic season already netted him the American League's MVP award, but the awards are still piling in for Detroit's third baseman.

Cabrera earned a pair of GIBBY (Greatness in Baseball Yearly) awards on Tuesday, earning the GIBBY Major League Baseball MVP award, as well as the Hitter of the Year award.

GIBBY award recipients are determined by a range of factors -- a fan vote at MLB.com, media, front-office personnel and Major League Baseball alumni.

Cabrera certainly earned each of his awards this season, batting .330/.393/.606, with 44 home runs and 139 RBI. Cabrera won the BBWAA MVP award, easily defeating Los Angeles Angels rookie centerfielder, Mike Trout.

Though the Tigers' season ended with a four-game sweep at the hands of the San Francisco Giants in the World Series, Cabrera's season still has to be considered one of the most successful campaigns in MLB history -- and Cabrera's trophy case now reflects that.
